Can I Place A Dumpster On The Street In Brookhaven?

Can I Place A Dumpster On The Street In Brookhaven?

What is allowed?

Renting a dumpster for medium to large home clean-outs and other projects is an excellent idea. We are very flexible about where we set our dumpsters, however we still must comply with city, county and state laws. If the driveway is large enough we can almost always place a dumpster on private driveways, and parking areas. Some cities or counties will allow dumpsters to be placed on a curb or in city streets either with or without a permit, however, there are some that do not allow dumpsters to be placed anywhere besides private property.

What is not allowed?

The city of Brookhaven does not allow dumpsters to be placed on any public property or right away without obtaining a dumpster placement permit first. This is to keep its citizens safe. When dumpsters are placed on streets they can become a hazard by creating blind spots.  Keeping dumpsters on private property also helps to prevent unlawful dumping. Although unlawful dumping may not seem like an issue to the city it can become an issue to the person who has rented the dumpster. When there are restricted items in the dumpster the renter could be charged additional fees and may be forced to dispose of the item(s) separately.

Where can I find more information?

If you would like to fill out an Application for a permit, or more information on where you may and may not set a dumpster you can always visit your local Public Works Website or Office. You can also access any and all city codes and ordinances on the Municipal Codes website. The code regarding residential dumpsters is Sec. 17-220.

Common Concerns

Common Concerns for Dumpster Placement

Will my slopped driveway be an issue?

We often hear the statement: "My driveway is sloped. Is that going to be problem?".  The quick answer is most likely not; we have never had a driveway we could not put a rental dumpster on due to the incline or decline.  . The slope of the driveway needs to be parallel with the dumpster.  Perpendicular angles can cause the dumpster to lean and tip.  As long as the slope is about the same, there shouldn't be an issue.

Placing a dumpster on a driveway that is sloped with a flat spot can propose a bigger issue than it being placed on the slope.  When there is a change in the slope the hook on the truck will not line up properly with the dumpster.

Although, the picture does not do any justice, this driveway was very steep but had enough room at the top to place it without any issues.

Can the dumpster be set on my slanted driveway?

National Flag Day

National Flag Day

How did this day come to be?

June 14th is National Flag day. This day commemorates the day we adopted the flag we know and love today with 13 red and white stripes, and 50 stars set in a sea of blue. This day is believed to have been the idea of  a school teacher that had her students celebrate “Flag Birthday” on June 14th, 1885 to celebrate the flags 108th birthday. However, it was not until August 3rd, 1949, that President Truman signed an act of congress designating June 14th and National Flag Day. To learn more about Flag Day, click HERE.

Our flags meaning.

Our flag is not only a symbol for our country, but its very design contains memories from our past. Our flag has 7 red stripes and 6 white stripes that represent the 13 original colonies, and 50 white stars representing the 50 states the the Union.

Even the colors of the Flag are symbolic to what or Country and Flag stand for; the color red symbolizes hardiness and valor, white symbolizes purity and innocence, and blue symbolizes justice, perseverance, and vigilance. When combined these aspects have become an international symbol of freedom and justice. To learn more about the colors of our Flag, click HERE.

Why have we started this?

At Bin There Dump That Dumpster Rentals of Atlanta we have noticed an unsettling amount of American flags being improperly disposed of. As a Veteran owned business we find this to be particularly upsetting and have decided to do something about it!  In honor of National Flag Day, Bin There Dump That has decided to help prevent our country's flag from entering landfills by partnering with The American Legion to properly retire our honorable flag. We are asking all of our customers to set their old flags in an easily accessible location for our Delivery Experts to grab. We will then ensure the old flags are respectfully retired. Per the US Flag Code, Title 4, Section 8(K): “The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.”

Thank You.

The Bin There Dump That team we salutes our men and women in the armed forces and veterans. We understand the sacrifices you have made for our Country and want to honor you by properly caring for the flag you have fought to defend. Thank you for your service and sacrifice.

Can I Put A Dumpster On The Street In Peachtree City?

Can I Put A Dumpster On The Street In Peachtree City?

How to legally place a dumpster on public property or Street in Peachtree City.

What are the laws?

Rental dumpsters may be placed on the cart path, or public property if the citizen renting the dumpster obtains an encroachment permit from the city of Peachtree prior to renting. Dumpsters may not be placed on city streets, however they may be placed on cart paths, right-of-ways, and occasionally sidewalks with a permit. Dumpsters (or any obstruction) may NOT be left over night without prior permission from the Peachtree City Code Enforcement Department. Ordinance code 70-3 is most commonly used for residents and addresses rental dumpsters and various obstructions placed in Rights-of-way, sidewalks, and carts; especially obstructions left over night. Contractors and Roofers should see ordinance code 18-10 for details about what would be considered an unsafe work site in regards to disposal of debris and rental dumpsters. For full ordinance code can be found on the Municipal Code Website.

The Code Enforcement Department of Peachtree city can be contacted through Email at codeenforcement@peachtree-city.org or by phone at (770)-487-5731.

What is an Encroachment permit?

An Encroachment permit is a legal document obtained from the city that allows one to temporarily utilizes public space under the guidance of the permit. This permit helps keep the city looking nice by assigning the holder responsible for repairing and paying for any damages done to city property by the rental dumpster or various equipment.

How do I obtain a permit?

Peachtree City has two different Encroachment permits, the first is used for Right-Of-Ways and sidewalks, the second is used for Cart Paths.  Both of these permits (as well as others) can be found on the Peachtree City home website under Engineering. These forms and permits are free and can, usually, be obtained on a same-day basis.

How To Dispose Of Paint In Less Than 5 Steps!

How To Dispose Of Paint In Less Than 5 Steps!

We are no different, everybody loves the look of a freshly painted house.  However, a common question that is asked when someone is renting a dumpster is, “May I put my wet paint, or paint cans in the bin as well?”  The answer to that question is yes and no. If the paint is 100% dry it can be put directly into the dumpster.  Wet paint has to be dried out and if you do not love watching paint dry, we have some tips to help speed up the process. Our tips are fairly easy and there is couple of ways of doing it.

Recommended Disposal Method

The most common way is to simply mix the wet paint with cement and let it dry (this tip is for disposing of 1 gallon of paint, recipe can me adjusted to handle as much as needed). To do this you will need a plastic 5 gal. bucket with a lid, bagged cement, and a sturdy stir stick. Start by pouring the wet paint into the plastic bucket, then add the dry cement mix to the bucket. Use the sturdy stick to thoroughly mix the paint and cement mixture to a thick milkshake texture. Once you have made finished mixing set the bucket of cement paint and the empty paint can out to dry. It is that simple!

Sand, kitty litter, or saw dust can be used in lieu of cement.  The only down fall to using those materials is that is will take much longer to cure!

Most Cost Effective Way To Dispose Of Paint

Another way is to simply let it dry out.  This will be difficult to do if it is left in the can, but you can spread it out on a cardboard box, plywood, or even a section of old carpet, increasing the surface area of the paint will make it dry faster. So, whip out the can opener and paint brushes to spend a few minutes painting the items you are disposing of anyway.

Most Environmentally Friendly Disposal

The best and most environmentally friendly way is to recycle it.  The down fall is it can get a little pricey and may be hard to find locations that will accept wet paint.  You can call your local transfer station, county landfill, or sanitation department to see if they offer paint recycling or disposal.

If you are feeling philanthropic there are some charities that will accept paint for their use, some of these organizations would be Boy Scouts; they tend to run on a limited budget therefore most troops may take your paint. Some other options would be Habitat for Humanity, which takes in reusable construction and painting materials to build houses for those in need and Global Paint for Charity (located here in Atlanta), this program takes in leftover paint for volunteers to use on houses of the elderly, veterans, and widows so that they may keep their properties looking nice without out having to pay painter fees; they also ship the paint over seas and to cities in United States.

If you rent a dumpster from us, Bin There Dump That Dumpster Rentals of Atlanta,  you are allowed to dispose of paint using the cement or drying method.  We can reached at 404-692-2838, atl@bintheredumpthat.com, or online www.AtlantaDumpsterRentals.net.

How do I find dumpster rental near me?

How Can I Find a Local Dumpster Rental Company in Atlanta

If you have never rented a dumpster before or even if you have rented a dumpster before, you probably though, how do I find a dumpster rental near me?  It can be hard to find out what companies are local when it seems that everyone one you call is not located in your area.  In fact, most dumpster rental companies are not local or are not even a dumpster company, but a broker. Brokers simply take your order, find the cheapest person to do the job, mark it up, and then the 3rd party brings you the dumpster rental.

Separating Local Dumpster Companies From Brokers & National Companies

The big companies and brokers are the most expensive dumpster rentals.  The big companies have brand recognition,  love to go for after the big contractors, and are regional.  Sometimes the big guys will team up with broker to create a perfect mistake!

Brokers simply run adds and market their company as the source, but when they actually just find a local guy to do the work and add an significant amount of money to the cost!  They are a 3rd party company.

Using a local dumpster rental company will not only save you money, but you will also get a true idea of all the cost (no confusion), better service (less layers), faster service, and less fees (pre and post).  How do you find the dumpster rental "near me"?  For one visit their website and look for the following:  address, local phone number, see where their reviews are coming form, and look for social media linksSocial media can tell you a lot about where a company is located, too!  Another great place to look in google maps.  Maps will search by your IP address and list companies near you, but sometimes brokers will have listing in your area.  A local listing should look something like this.

Another indicator is look at the company name. If it is a blanket or general name; ie Budget Dumpster, Local Dumpster, Cheap Dumpster, Easy Dumpster, Quick Dumpster, etc it is strong indication that they are a broker.

Landfills and transfer stations are a good place to call and find out who the local guys are, too!

The simplest and quickest way to find out where the dumpster rental company is located is to ask them; this way you know for sure where they are.

Brokers and regional dumpster rental companies try to avoid letting you know that they are not local.  Brokers also try to avoid you figuring out that what they really are, a third party or subcontractor.  Remember, these guys are significantly more expensive, too!

Brokers are notorious for additional charges.  Read some of the great reviews:

"A few days later they charged me additional 44 dollar for who know what. Looking at the reviews, it seems to be quite common in their practice.
Lesson: if they claim to be the cheapest, they will charge you afterwards." Nataliya L.

"They give a very great competitive price and then a week later charges an additional $109.50." Pnoemi

"This is not even a dumpster company. This is a third party referral service .
They only get the business and then they call a local dumpster company." Mike R
